MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Brandie Edelen started her wedding décor company, Lucky in Love, out of her shed in Mechanicsville five years ago. Now, she serves 120 weddings a year, helping couples pull off the wedding of their dreams.
Lucky in Love is a décor rental company that offers arches, linens, plates, signs, backdrops, flowers, and more. The premise is simple: couples select what they want for their wedding, choose pickup and return dates, and the team packs up each order. The website gives shoppers full control over their vision. During the busy season, items are cleaned and prepped for pickup, then returned afterward, with no need for couples to worry about reselling or storing anything. The goal is to make the process as hassle-free as possible.
But what truly sets the business apart is the barn in Mechanicsville, which acts as a hands-on showroom. Couples and their families can visit and jump right in—setting tables, decorating arches, and arranging pieces to visualize their perfect day.
“With us, you can come in and physically touch everything,” Edelen said. “There’s really nothing else like it around.”
Visitors are encouraged to move items, be creative, and make it their own. She especially enjoys when guests leave their designs for others to see, because you never know what might spark someone else’s inspiration.
On Feb. 21 from 12–4 p.m., the barn will open for Lucky in Love’s third annual Wedding Expo, welcoming couples and families from across Southern Maryland. This year, Edelen has teamed up with wedding coordinator Brianna Eckrich of The Classic Coord to feature a curated group of trusted vendors.
Those vendors include The Classic Coord, Mission Barbecue, Untamed Spirits, Big T’s Entertainment & Party Rentals, Tri-County Tent Rentals, Patchouli’s Wedding Design, “I Do” Confections, SJR Beauty, Morgan Marie Photography, The Lyrical Bean, Pretty Little Platters, & HM Preservations. Each will offer information about their services—and samples to try.
“We’ll have everything from cupcakes to brisket,” Edelen said.
A highlight of the day is the big giveaway: a full décor package for one lucky couple. The prize has everything needed to bring a wedding vision to life, including linen, plates, and arch, and more. Anyone who attends the event can enter, and winners don’t have to be present when the name is drawn. There are no strings attached.

“Every year, I really pray that when I give this package away it will go to someone who needs it, so I can help someone have the wedding of their dreams,” she added.
The giveaway is a favorite part of the year, and keeping costs affordable for the community is at the heart of Lucky in Love. The company itself grew from a DIY mindset. Edelen launched it after spending a summer helping her daughter, Sarah, gather pre-owned décor for her wedding. That experience showed how many brides were searching for meaningful, affordable options and wanted to add their own personal touch.
To this day, she still packs most of the orders herself, and her husband builds the arches. Each rental is part of someone’s most important day, and she’s committed to making it special.
“I don’t have everything,” she said. “But I sure have a lot. And I hope I can help everyone find what they’re looking for.”
The Wedding Expo is free to attend, but registration is encouraged to help ensure there’s enough food for everyone. For updates and details, follow Lucky in Love and The Classic Coord on Facebook.
The event will be held from 12–4 p.m. on Feb. 21 at 13771 Ryceville Rd, Mechanicsville—and all of Southern Maryland is invited to come out and connect.
