WALDORF, Md. — After several weeks of steady crowds and long drive-thru lines, Zaxby’s in Waldorf held its official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The event marked the formal grand opening of Maryland’s first Zaxby’s location and celebrated its early success in the community.
The ribbon cutting, held at 9 a.m. at 3068 Waldorf Market Place, welcomed members of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce, local business leaders, and State Delegate Edith Patterson. Community members, partners, and guests gathered to recognize the milestone and show support for the new business. Kathy Guzman of the Chamber of Commerce welcomed the community, thanking residents, business partners, and staff for showing strong support and enthusiasm for Zaxby’s arrival in Waldorf.

Delegate Patterson shared a personal connection, mentioning that her grandchildren live in Birmingham and that her family often stops at every Zaxby’s they pass when traveling to visit them. She expressed how delighted she is to have a local Zaxby’s now, noting that her family will certainly visit the Waldorf location multiple times.
The first person in line, Robert G., is originally from Houston and moved to the area 10 years ago. Now living in Fort Washington, he said he was excited to have a Zaxby’s close by. He looks forward to getting the Zalads whenever he wants. Robert noted that, despite the long lines, today marks his third visit to the Waldorf location. He expects to stop by more often as things return to normal.

To kick off the opening, the first 50 guests in line received a limited-edition Deck of Dealz—a pack of free weekly menu offers valid for an entire year. Giveaways included popular Zaxby’s items such as Chicken Fingerz™, Boneless Wings, House Zalads®, Fried Cheddar Bites, and the Big Zax Snack Meal.
“This grand opening represents more than just great chicken—it’s about growing with the community and providing top-tier service,” a representative from RMW1 LLC said.
The Waldorf location officially opened to the public on Nov. 12, making it Zaxby’s first restaurant in Maryland and the start of a broader expansion into the region. The restaurant has created more than 60 new local jobs.

Manuel Fierro, William Sanders, and Romanus Anamege of RMW1 LLC will own and operate the restaurant, which includes 56 dine-in seats and a drive-thru.
“We’re focused on making sure every guest receives great food and service,” said Manuel Fierro. “For us, quality over quantity is what matters most.”

It is causing horrible problems getting in and out of that shopping center causing back ups at the turn infant of the mattress store and Petco. The should have planned a better entrance and exit to that place. It really is a newscance and causing terrible traffic issues.

This is exactly what Waldorf md needs, food that keeps you sick, just got a cookie crumble, not like VA, where they have Sweetgreen, coastal Flats and just better all around restaurants. Is this deliberate, that’s what someone should really find out.
