LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Firefighters responded early Saturday to a structure fire that destroyed an abandoned mobile home in a wooded area of St. Mary’s County, according to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal.

The fire was reported around 1:34 a.m. Jan. 31, 2026, at 21476 Suburban Drive. Crews from the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department arrived to find a single-wide manufactured trailer fully involved. About 50 firefighters worked for roughly 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

The structure was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

The mobile home was completely destroyed, though investigators reported no estimated dollar loss to the structure or its contents, citing its abandoned status.

The fire was discovered by a neighbor. The area of origin and preliminary cause remain under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Southern Regional Office at 410-414-3600.
