UPDATE – 3/25/2024 – 33-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed After Being Hit By Vehicle In Waldorf

WALDORF, Md. –  On March 24, 2024, at approximately 2:51 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a serious motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist on Mattawoman Beantown road near Pinefield Road.

Crews arrived to find the bicyclist in the roadway with serious injuries. A MEDEVAC was immediately requested. The driver of the car that hit the bicyclist remained at the scene.

Firefighters established a landing zone at the Park and Ride on Mattawoman Beantown Road where Maryland State Police, Trooper 2, airlifted the injured bicyclist to MedStar Trauma Center for treatment.

Mattawoman Beantown Road was shut down northbound between Nike Drive and Indian Lane for an extended period of time.

The incident is still under investigation by the police.

  1. Quit walking and bicycling on roads in Maryland and this would stop, people can’t drive here

    1. You might as well be saying “don’t dress like that and you won’t get raped.” Victim blaming isn’t the right answer here

  2. I cycled for a few years on rail trails until it got congested with squads doing sit-ups in the middle of the trail and walkers sometimes got pissed when I’d fly by them. Then I hit the shoulders for a few weeks and quickly gave that up. Then converted to dirt trail bikes and still caught occasional hate from walkers/horseback so I quit entirely. There aren’t places left for bikes sadly. Roads are suicide unless the phone app drivers are currently watching shows idiot cyclists in the middle of the road.
