ANNAPOLIS, Md. U.S. Rep. Sarah Elfreth, representing Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District in the United States Congress, has been recognized for her work advancing policies that support women and families, receiving the Women in Government Award from the Women Legislators of Maryland Foundation and the Maryland Women’s Caucus.

Elfreth shared the honor in a Facebook post, calling the recognition “beyond honored” and noting she received the award alongside Sen. Angela Alsobrooks and Rep. April McClain Delaney. The award highlights leaders who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to improving the lives of women through public service and legislative action.

Since its founding in 1972, the Women Legislators of Maryland has focused on advancing legislation aimed at strengthening opportunities, protections and outcomes for women and families across the state. Elfreth, who previously served as a member of the Women’s Caucus during her time in the Maryland State House, credited the organization’s longstanding mission as a guiding force in her own work.

Elfreth stated, “As a former member of the Women’s Caucus at the State House and now a proud member of the Democratic Women’s Caucus, I’m committed to the continued fight for women’s rights here in Congress and alongside our state and local partners.”

As she carries her experience from the State House to Capitol Hill, the award affirms Elfreth’s ongoing dedication to championing women and families, a cause she has said will continue to shape her voice and leadership in Congress.
