โ€œBy learning to discover and value our ordinariness, we nurture friendliness toward ourselves and the world that is the essence of a healthy soul.โ€ โ€“ Thomas Moore

This could have been a huge article but I tried to keep the info concise and to the point with some practical solutions.

A recent news article reported that the number one pesticide Roundup has been linked to Parkinsonโ€™s disease, Cancer and infertility. The chief ingredient is a substance called glyphosate. It has been found to be harmful to plants, animals and humans. Roundupโ€™s use in the US has also doubled in the last 6 years.

Europe has banned some pesticides due to many studies finding a possible link between their uses and declining bee populations. โ€œBees? What are you some kind of insect rightsโ€™ activist?โ€ย

Well if plants do not get pollinated by bees they will not produce fruits and vegetables. Bee populations in the US have plummeted and we have started relying on bee farmers to import and raise bees so crops can continue producing food.

We constantly hear how fish is healthy but you canโ€™t eat too much because of the pollution in the water or that metals and chemicals accumulate in the predatory fish. If you eat that fish then you take in these metals and pollutants and now theyโ€™re inside you.

FYI โ€“ Antioxidants like Vitamin A, C and E, as well as open cell wall chlorella (an algae found to help remove toxic metals from your body) could help keep you well.

Next, how milk is healthy but there are hormones in it causing our kids to develop early like the girls in middle school. Meats are chocked full too. Have you ever seen the Pterodactyl-sized chicken breasts in the store? Thatโ€™s one bad &$$ bird I wouldnโ€™t want to meet in a dark alley.

Fruits and vegetables should be a staple of our diet but they are covered in pesticides. You need to wash them first, but it actually wonโ€™t remove a majority of these chemicals. Then the pesticides continually build up in the soil, inside our foods as they grow and can runoff into our streams and waterways. Itโ€™s a vicious cycle.

Organic food is one way to reduce the amount of hormones and pesticides entering your body. Research goes back and forth on whether there is actually more nutrition in these organic foods but personally Iโ€™m not looking for super foods. Iโ€™m buying it to just be eating the foods without a lifetime of chemicals destroying my body as it accumulates inside me.
