Early-Morning Fire Destroys Home In Leonardtown

UPDATE – Fire Destroys Leonardtown Fire Official’s Home, Displaces Family, Three Pets Dead

LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Fire destroyed a two-story home with an attached garage early Thursday, Jan. 8, 2025, along Fairgrounds Road near Clay Hill Road.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 1 a.m. and encountered heavy fire conditions throughout the residence. Crews conducted exterior firefighting operations as flames tore through the garage and extended into the main living area, leaving significant structural damage.

The fire was eventually brought under control after prolonged operations, and emergency personnel remained on scene into the morning hours to secure the property. No injuries were reported.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
