Units from seven Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a fire on Vacchiano Drive in Port Tobacco around 6:06 a.m. on August 25.
The 40 firefighters controlled the fire in about 15 minutes but the dwelling is considered a loss.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal the fire started because of a malfunction within the furnace located in the basement. Damage is estimated at a total of $375,000.
The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.ย
