MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A local church and community partners are preparing to host a large-scale outreach event offering free clothing, food and services to residents across St. Mary’s County.

Living Word Community Church (LWCC) will hold its “Community Care Day” from 9 a.m. to noon June 6 at 39371 Harpers Corner Road in Mechanicsville. The three-hour event is open to the public, with organizers emphasizing that “everyone is welcome.”

Hosted in partnership with To Be Known Ministries and The Giving Closet, the event will provide free clothing, snack bags and personal care packages, along with live music and additional resources for attendees.

Organizers say the event is designed to serve the community “in a really big way,” encouraging individuals and families to attend together.

“Come one, come all — bring your family, bring your friends, bring your neighbors,” event organizers said in promotional materials. “You won’t want to miss this.”

Most activities will take place indoors, though a free car wash will also be offered outside during the event.

Community Care Day builds on ongoing efforts by local organizations to meet basic needs while fostering connection and support among residents. Events like these have become increasingly important as nonprofits and faith-based groups continue working to bridge gaps in access to essential items such as clothing and hygiene products.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to pre-register online at:

Organizers said they look forward to welcoming the community for a morning focused on service, generosity and connection.
