LA PLATA, Md. — Earlier this week La Plata Police Department cadet, Kalah Sauers, was sworn in as a United States Army Reservist.ย  Sauers will soon be shipping off to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, for her basic training and advanced individual training as a military police officer.

Sauers calls her service to the community and our country as a โ€œcalling.โ€ย

Ultimately, Sauers wants to become a police officer. Sauers told members of the agency, โ€œI really do enjoy helping others and doing the best I can to be a role model for the younger ones before me.โ€ย  It is clear Kalah has a servantโ€™s heart.ย

Kalahโ€™s motto comes from the movie Rocky, โ€œNow, if you know what youโ€™re worth than go out and get what youโ€™re worth.โ€ย

Sauers also noted, โ€œI am willing to take the hits.โ€

LPPD is extremely proud of Kalah and her desire to serve her fellow citizens.ย  Thank you for your willingness to serve our nation.ย  Weโ€™ll see you 19-weeks, Kalah!!!
