LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — The Lexington Park Business Association on Tuesday unveiled a new webpage outlining upcoming and proposed initiatives aimed at shaping the community’s growth through 2028.
Wynne Briscoe, president of the association, presented the new resource during the Economic Development Commission meeting on Jan. 21, calling it a snapshot of what lies ahead for the 20653 area.
“Lexington Park is bright,” Briscoe said. “We put a new page on our website. If you go to lexba.org/brightfuture, it will give you some of the upcoming initiatives between now and 2028.”

The page highlights projects and proposals currently underway or in development across Lexington Park, many of which Briscoe said community leaders are already familiar with.
“We’re excited about them all,” she said.

Among the most anticipated developments is the new YMCA, scheduled to open in June. Briscoe described it as a cornerstone project for the region.
“That’s one of our flagship things that we’re super excited about being that that’s the first full-service YMCA south of Annapolis,” she said.
Briscoe noted the regional impact of the project, emphasizing that surrounding counties lack a comparable facility.
“For the other four or five counties that surround us that do not have a full-service YMCA, we’re so grateful to be able to have that, and that being located in downtown Lexington Park,” she said.
Other initiatives featured on the webpage include arts, recreation and infrastructure improvements. Briscoe highlighted recent progress on the Carver Community Arts and Center Market and Maker Place.
“So shout out to the Arts Council with getting the grant for that Carver Community Arts and Center Market and Maker Place,” she said, adding, “So thank you, shout out to Susie and the team for that.”
Planned enhancements also include redevelopment at Pax River Village Center, new townhomes, and the extension of the Three Notch Trail into Lexington Park and Patuxent River.
“So if you want to continue walking, biking, all the way from north to south, you can do that in Lexington Park,” Briscoe said.
She also pointed to the future Shannon Farm Community Park on the Chesapeake Bay, calling it a significant addition to local waterfront access.
“There will be another Chesapeake Bay waterfront park,” she said, adding that it will be “located in 20653.”
Briscoe said the project reflects the county’s commitment to preserving accessible shoreline for residents.
“We’re grateful for the Parks and Recs and the county, putting value and waterfront property that the residents can access in Lexington Park,” she said.
The “Bright Future” webpage is available at lexba.org/brightfuture and will continue to reflect updates as projects move forward.
