AVENUE, Md. — What started as one woman’s dream of hitting the open road nearly stalled before it began—until Ben and Autumn Burton of Avenue Mobile Services stepped in to turn her transit van into a fully customized camper built around her life, her budget, and her vision. It’s just one example of how the Southern Maryland business is helping local families trade travel anxiety for unforgettable memories while staying road-ready every step of the way.
“We had a customer with a transit van—it was her dream to turn it into a camper van,” the team at Avenue Mobile Services explained. “We did an entire renovation and a custom build for her. We worked with her on her budget to get everything she needed and wanted at the time, and our technicians custom-built cabinets inside the unit to accommodate what she was looking for.”

That kind of hands-on support is what has made Avenue Mobile Services a trusted name among RV owners across the region. Whether it’s helping someone build their dream camper or stepping in to solve unexpected challenges, the company has built its reputation on making travel more accessible—and less intimidating.
In another ongoing effort, Avenue Mobile Services is partnering with social services to assist disabled adults living in a campers.
“When our technicians arrived, they realized there was no way to make the existing steps safe,” they said. “We are currently donating a deck with steps that we had previously built for our office that we no longer use.”
It’s stories like these that highlight a bigger message: hitting the road should be about freedom and memories—not stress or uncertainty.
Don’t Let Travel Anxiety Hold You Back This Summer
For many RV owners, the idea of long-distance travel can come with a long checklist of worries—mechanical issues, costly breakdowns, or unexpected repairs. But according to Avenue Mobile Services, a little preparation can go a long way toward turning anxiety into confidence.
As summer travel ramps up, the team encourages RV owners to focus on preventative maintenance and simple checks that can make all the difference between a stressful trip and a smooth one.
Here are their top recommendations:
- Schedule a spring check-up: A thorough inspection ensures all systems and appliances are operating properly before hitting the road.
- Inspect and seal your roof: Biannual roof inspections help prevent leaks and water damage, especially during heavy rain and storm season.
- Check wheel bearings after long trips: This helps prevent dangerous breakdowns while traveling.
- Control interior moisture: Use a dehumidifier or moisture control products like DampRid to combat humidity and prevent mold or damage.
- Clear debris from slide-outs: Removing buildup above and below slide-outs helps avoid rips, tears, and mechanical issues.
- Do a full walk-around inspection: Always check your unit before traveling to catch potential hazards early.
“We are offering a Spring check-up package for upcoming travelers,” they said, noting that preventative maintenance can make all the difference before hitting the road.
A Family Business Built On A Leap Of Faith
Behind the growing business is a story rooted in family, risk, and determination.“We were really young and expecting our first child. Our motivation stemmed from that and providing a better life for our daughter,” they shared in an interview with The BayNet. “Ben came up with the idea, and with his experience in construction, we decided to take the leap and start our own RV repair company.”

That leap in the summer of 2021 quickly turned into something more, thanks in part to strong family support. Ben credits his grandfather, Chip Burton, as a key influence in getting the business off the ground.
“Ben’s grandfather, Chip, always encouraged him and helped him get the business started in many ways,” the family said. “He still is very supportive and engaging and frequents the shop to check on day-to-day operations. Without his help and encouragement, the business never would have succeeded.”
