HUGHESVILLE, Md. — Two people were injured Friday morning, March 21, 2025, after a pickup truck rolled over and came to rest upright against a fence at a Hughesville intersection.
The crash happened around 7:27 a.m. at the intersection of Old Leonardtown Road and Burnt Store Road. Emergency crews were initially alerted by an iPhone crash notification, a feature that automatically notifies first responders in the event of a serious collision. When fire and rescue personnel arrived, they found the truck had rolled but was resting upright with visible damage. No one was trapped inside.

According to Maryland State Police, the crash involved a white Ford F-350 and a white Buick Verano. A preliminary investigation indicates the Buick was traveling west on Route 231 when it failed to stop at the stop sign at Old Leonardtown Road. The F-350, which was traveling south on Old Leonardtown Road, struck the Verano and overturned after the impact.
Medics evaluated two patients at the scene. The driver of the F-350 was transported to UM Capital Region Medical Center, while a passenger in the Verano was taken to UM Charles Regional Medical Center for additional care.
The intersection was temporarily shut down while emergency crews cleared the area.
The crash remains under investigation.

People need to learn how to drive around here. IMO most of the accidents around here are not attributed to distracted driving. I bet the majority are due to speed and negligent driving.
Most people think that light is a four way red flashing light. We live down the street and daily see people only tap brakes or don’t stop plus that building on corner is a blind spot. MAKE IT A FOUR STOP then everyone will stop.
