LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Superintendent of Schools Dr. J. Scott Smith announced the administrative appointments made by the Board of Education at its meeting of June 24, 2026.
The Board appointed Ms. Victoria James as an 11-month assistant principal at Margaret Brent Middle School. Ms. James holds a master’s degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Ms. James currently serves as an instructional resource teacher at Margaret Brent Middle School.
The Board appointed Ms. Kathryn Smith as an 11-month assistant principal at Spring Ridge Middle School. Ms. Smith holds a master’s degree from the University of Maryland University College and a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Ms. Smith currently serves as a special education teacher at Leonardtown High School.
The Board appointed Ms. Kristin Shields as a 12-month director of Title I and Family Engagement in the Department of Title I and Family Engagement. Ms. Shields holds a master’s degree from Bowie State University and a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Shields currently serves as the supervisor of Title I in the Department of Title I and Family Engagement.

The Board appointed Ms. Christi Wenk as Assistant Principal, 11 month, at Green Holly Elementary School. Ms. Wenk holds a Master’s Degree from McDaniel College and a Bachelor’s Degree from Towson University. Ms. Wenk currently serves as an Instructional Resource Teacher, 10 month, at Green Holly Elementary School.
These appointments will become effective July 1, 2026.
