LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Weis Markets has officially opened its doors at 40845 Merchants Lane in Leonardtown. The store is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and offers delivery, pickup and click-and-collect services, as well as a prepared food section. The 43,000-square-foot store is expected to employ more than 125 full- and part-time associates.
Customers can also enjoy other Weis benefits, like the new Price Lock program on high-demand seasonal items, the Low, Low Price program, Hot Buys and Weis Rewards.
The new store held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 15 and officially opened on Oct. 16 with regular store hours. Several local leaders attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, including members of the Leonardtown Business Association, Councilman Nick Colvin and Delegate Matt Morgan. Morgan wrote in a Facebook post, “This move is a great step forward in providing quality service to our neighbors and creating jobs in the area.”
Weis Markets also presented $1,500 donations to several groups, including the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department, the YMCA of St. Mary’s County and the Hospice at St. Mary’s.
In August, Weis Markets opened a location in Charlotte Hall at 30015 Three Notch Road. The 60,000-plus-square-foot store was Weis Markets’ 51st Maryland location — making the Leonardtown location the 52nd.
Weis has over 200 stores across Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia and West Virginia. The store is best known for its large prepared section and support of local farmers.
Online, shoppers shared their interest in the prepared food options and applauded the clean environment and shopper-friendly layout of the market.

Congratulations!!!
How many Weis stores does St Mary’s County needs? This is four by my count, not counting the two in southern Calvert County. No Trader Joes, no Whole Foods, no Wegmans. So glad I left this county.
