CALIFORNIA, Md. — A winter weather advisory remains in effect from 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, to 1 a.m. Thursday for portions of southern Maryland and northern Virginia, with forecasters cautioning that snowfall could create hazardous travel conditions.
The National Weather Service now predicts 1 to 2 inches of snow across the region, though locally higher totals of up to 4 inches are possible in southern St. Mary’s County. The advisory also covers King George County in Virginia, where similar accumulations are expected.
With snow forecast to fall during the evening commute and temperatures well below freezing, road conditions are likely to deteriorate quickly. Officials warn that untreated surfaces may become slick, particularly as traffic volume peaks.
While snowfall expectations have been adjusted downward in some areas, transportation crews remain on alert, and drivers are urged to use caution. Freezing temperatures overnight may leave some roads icy into Wednesday morning, prompting continued concerns for early travelers.
Authorities recommend staying updated on weather conditions and planning for potential delays as the storm moves through the region.
