The Charles County Sheriff’s office released a statement April 29 on the experience that deputies had while assisting in Baltimore on April 28.
“Good morning everyone. Thank you for your kind words yesterday. We passed your comments on to our officers who assisted Baltimore police.
Our officers are home now, they say all went well. They went knowing immediate danger existed, but they encountered something else. As they bravely guarded their assigned area – the Mondawmin Mall – many residents approached and offered food and water, but mostly, they offered their sincere thanks and appreciation for keeping them safe. At one point, several people formed a prayer circle near our officers. Some in the group gently placed their hands on a few officers and prayed that all officers would receive extra protection.
While we are always prepared to help in dangerous circumstances, it’s the little things we aren’t prepared for. And so it goes, some heartfelt moments in a tense time.
We also heard from many Charles County residents who offered to help any way they could. Thank you! Sheriff Berry said we will continue to monitor events and assist as needed. In the meantime, there are no major traffic events to report. Have a good day.”
The BayNet would like to thank all of our men and women in service for putting their lives at risk to keep us safe. Thank you for all you do!
