“Join us in congratulating Aimee H. and Melanie M., our November SPIRIT Award winners! These associates were nominated for demonstrating our SPIRIT values—Service, Patient First, Integrity, Respect, Innovation, and Teamwork—in their roles at our hospital.
Aimee, Case Management: “After recently seeing a patient, Aimee felt something did not seem right. She observed an injury that appeared to have been missed. Aimee notified a physician, who obtained the correct test to see the injury.
Because of Aimee’s excellent assessment and communication skills, this vulnerable individual was protected from harm. She is always focused on the patient and is a role model nurse case manager!”
Melanie, Hospice & Palliative Care: “Melanie is a top-notch CMT [certified medication technician]. Recently she stopped the reoccurrence of a third-party pharmacy error. While dispensing a patient’s medications, she noticed two different pills in the same bottle.
They matched by shape, size, and color, but the imprinted numbers were different. Instead of just assuming one was a generic brand, Melanie looked them up and found they were entirely different medications. Her sharp eye kept the patient from receiving another dose of the wrong medicine provided by the third-party pharmacy.”
