NANJEMOY, Md. – A large-scale emergency response unfolded late Friday night as fire crews battled a fully involved structure fire at a residence on Gilroy Road in Nanjemoy, Maryland. The fire, which was first reported around 9:55 p.m. on February 21, 2025, quickly escalated, prompting multiple agencies to respond.
According to first responders, the fire was reported as fully engulfing the residence upon arrival. Initial reports from dispatch indicated that an occupant was inside the home at the time of the fire. Shortly after crews began operations, it was confirmed that the occupant had suffered burn injuries.
Firefighters initiated defensive operations, deploying multiple attack lines while additional units coordinated water supply efforts. Command ordered a landing zone setup at Port Tobacco Road and Greenleek Hill Road, with Maryland State Police Trooper 2 activated for a potential medevac transport.
Communications detailed that crews faced challenging conditions, including partial structural collapse and fire spread throughout the attic. Water supply issues were also noted, with emergency responders requesting additional tankers and water shuttle operations.
Reports indicated the fire started in a bedroom before rapidly spreading, leading to the home’s full engulfment. Emergency units from surrounding counties were dispatched to assist.
Emergency personnel confirmed that at least one individual suffered burn injuries. The patient was initially assessed at the scene before being transported to a local trauma center for further evaluation.
