CALIFORNIA, Md. — Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025. Clocks turn back one hour to 1 a.m., returning Maryland to Eastern Standard Time through winter.
Most phones and computers will adjust automatically, but wall clocks, microwaves and vehicle dashboards may need a manual change. The seasonal shift follows federal rules that run from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November.
Expect earlier sunrises—and earlier nightfall—starting Sunday. Transportation officials urge extra caution during evening commutes and around crosswalks as visibility drops. Marylanders can review tips on MDOT SHA’s Pedestrian Safety and statewide guidance at Zero Deaths MD.
Fire officials also use the time change to remind residents to test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. If your model uses replaceable batteries, swap them now and check the manufacture date.
For exact official timekeeping and the legal DST schedule, see time.gov and NIST’s Daylight Saving Time rules. Daylight saving time is scheduled to return in March 2026.
