Lusby, MD – Alyssa Mazzone, 16, of Lusby, will compete for the title of MISS MARYLAND TEEN USA 2019 Oct. 26-28 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Bethesda, MD. Miss Mazzone is the daughter of Brian and Darlene Mazzone. She is a Junior at Patuxent High School, where she is a High Honors Student, the Captain of her Varsity Cheer Team, and plays Basketball. Her additional activities include the Patuxent Improv team, membership to the National Honor Society (NHS), Student to Student, Class Council, Key Club, Competitive Cheerleading, and in her spare time she is a Jr. Cheer Coach for Calvert County Parks and Recreation. Volunteering has been a priority for Mazzone, in addition to coaching the last 3 years, she has participated in Relay for Life, Karsyn’s Carnival to raise awareness about Down Syndrome, made dog toys and donated them to the local animal shelter, raised money for the March of Dimes, participated in the Breast Cancer 5K, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and is currently participating in a Humanitarian Service Project Coat Drive for the needy.
Although not a first, for this former “All American Cheerleader”, representing her school and hometown, definitely a first competing as an official State Finalist for the Miss Maryland Teen USA Pageant. Growing up Mazzone never dreamed of competing in pageants but she had big plans to go to college to study Computer Science. This was an opportunity to help contribute to the costs with potential scholarships, should she earn the title. “I started looking for scholarship money, but never thought I’d actually be considered” recalled Mazzone. Miss Mazzone indicated she’s “so honored and excited to have made it this far and chosen as a contestant. Everyone has been so supportive and I thank them all so very much. I look forward to giving it my all, in hopes of making them, as well as, my entire community proud.”

The contestant chosen as Miss Maryland Teen USA 2019 will go on to represent the state of Maryland in the 2019 MISS TEEN USA® pageant.
