On November 20, 2011 at 4:58 A.M. police units responded to a private residence in St. Inigoes, Maryland for the report of a burglary to an occupied dwelling and a subject being shot.ย  Upon patrol units arrival it was determined the suspect had broke into the victims home, had been shot and had fled into the nearby woods.

Detectives from the St. Maryโ€™s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded and assumed the investigation.ย  An investigation revealed the suspect, George B. Williams, age 19, of St. Maryโ€™s City, entered the victimโ€™s residence through a front window while the homeowner was asleep.ย  The homeowner was awakened by noise coming from the downstairs area, retrieved a handgun and confronted Williams in the hallway inside the residence.ย  A struggle ensued at which time the gun was accidentally discharged by the victim.ย  The struggle continued out onto the front porch area of the residence where the suspect received a single gunshot wound to the foot.ย  Williams was then able to flee into the woods.

A Sheriffโ€™s Office K-9 unit responded and conducted a search of the wooded area which led to the discovery of the suspect lying in the woods, extremely intoxicated and suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.ย  The suspect was transported to St. Maryโ€™s Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.ย  The homeowner was not injured during this incident.
