On September 29, 2011, at approximately 4:30 p.m., deputies responded to a residence on Independence Drive in Mechanicsville, Maryland, for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Kelly Elizabeth Braxton, 29 of Mechanicsville, Maryland, engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Braxton struck him in the face multiple times and used a broom to strike the victim in the abdomen. Deputy D. Snyder responded to the scene. Braxton was arrested and charged with second degree assault.
