Prince Frederick, MD –ย A vacant two-story house sustained heavy damage in a fire Sunday evening, Feb. 7 in Calvert County, state officials reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s office, the blaze off Leitches Wharf Road in Prince Frederick was discovered shortly after 8 p.m. by a passerby.

โ€œThere were no injuries as a result of the fire,โ€ Dfm. Zack Dell reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage to the structure is estimated at $50,000.

The owner is identified as Thomas Weems.

Forty firefighters from Prince Frederick, Huntingtown, Dunkirk, Benedict, Hughesville and St. Leonard were dispatched to the one-alarm fire and brought the flames under control in two minutes.
