The Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office is investigating a fire that caused damage to a car parked at a Lexington Park motel. The fire that was reported Monday night caused $1,000 damage to a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria that had been reported stolen on August 3. The vehicle was owned by Charles Hall.

The fire was discovered by the manager of the A&E Motel. It took four firefighters from the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department just a minute to bring the fire under control.

The fire was investigated by Deputy Fire Marshall Dexter Hodges. He reports that the fire was โ€œincendiary due to a suspect intentionally setting fire to the interior of the vehicle.โ€ ย Hodges reports, โ€œThe suspect fled the scene after the fire and could have been injured during the commission of this crime.โ€
