At 12:09 p.m. May 11, TFC L. Nims of the Leonardtown trooper barrack observed the driver of a Chevy Cavalier was not wearing a seatbelt. He stopped that vehicle on Fenwick Street in the area of Gregory Drive, Leonardtown.

Upon contact with the driver, Gary Wayne Wommack, 22, of Lusby, an odor of burnt marijuana was detected. As Wommack exited his vehicle, a smoking device with a large clump of burnt marijuana, was observed lying on the ground.

The pipe was retrieved and found to be still warm.

Wommack was placed under arrest. A search of the vehicle revealed numerous illegal fireworks in the trunk.

Fire Marshal C. Dammann responded to the trooper barrack for further investigation. Over 500 illegal fireworks were seized.

Wommack was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia and Possession with intent to Discharge Fireworks, without the required permit.

Investigation is continuing by the Fire Marshalโ€™s Office. All seized fireworks were turned over to Fire Marshall Dammann.
