On Sunday, Oct. 20 the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office and the Charles County Sheriffโs Office conducted an investigation into an incendiary fire in the Bannister neighborhood. The fire occurred around 7 p.m. at a residence on Brightwell Court in Waldorf. The blaze caused damage to a two story, townhouse dwelling. The fire was determined to have been intentionally set with the use of an ignitable liquid.
The Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department and surrounding departments were dispatched for a reported house fire, with someone intentionally setting the fire. Responding units arrived and extinguished the fire within five minutes. The Charles County Sheriffโs Office arrived on the scene and detained a suspect, identified as Timothy Henson, 52. Henson resides at the house with his girlfriend and her family. He had a verbal argument with his girlfriend earlier in the evening and reportedly set the fire to spite her.ย The residence is owned by Kundhi Durghi. The fire caused approximately $5,000 in damages to the dwelling. The occupants are being assisted by family and friends due to the damage caused by the fire.ย Henson was taken into custody and charged with first-degree arson, malicious burning, reckless endangerment and Malicious Destruction of Property over $500. He was transported to the Charles County Detention Center, and is being held on a $50,000 bail.
