PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A high-speed motorcycle chase in Prince Frederick led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man on multiple charges, including kidnapping.
On May 26, 2024, DFC Hendrickson observed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Rt. 4. A traffic stop was initiated, but the motorcycle rapidly accelerated, reaching speeds over 100 mph.
After initially losing sight of the motorcycle, S/DFC Idol later located it passing Mt. Harmony Elementary. The motorcycle turned southbound on Rt. 4 in the area of Briscoes Turn Road, where the driver lost control, causing a rear passenger to fall off.
Deputies stopped to assist the female passenger, who was transported to UM Capital Region Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. She reported that she had begged her boyfriend, the driver, to stop, but he refused and did not let her off the motorcycle.
The driver was identified as Austin Page Catterton, 25, of Owings, Maryland. Deputies later found Catterton hiding in a truck bed inside his garage, where they also located the motorcycle.
Catterton was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with Kidnapping, Failure to Obey a Reasonable/Lawful Order of a Law Enforcement Officer, (Driving/Attempting To) Drive Motor Vehicle On Hwy W/O Req. License And Authorization, Driving Without Current Tags, Reckless Driving, and several other traffic violations.
During a bond review hearing on May 28, 2024, Judge Riddle denied bond for Catterton. He is due in Calvert District Court for a preliminary hearing on June 26, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.
