ANNAPOLIS, Md. – A 74-year-old man and his dog were fatally struck by a minivan Thanksgiving morning while crossing Cedar Park Road in Annapolis.
Emergency crews responded to the incident on November 28, 2024, at around 7:25 a.m. near the intersection of Cedar Park Road and Woodlawn Avenue. David Chan, a longtime resident of the area, was found lying face-down in the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene despite attempts by Annapolis Fire Department medics to revive him.

The dog, a Rottweiler, was also hit and taken to an emergency veterinary hospital. Due to the severity of its injuries, the animal was euthanized at the family’s request.
No charges have been filed as of Thursday afternoon, and the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section continues to investigate the incident. Authorities are examining roadway conditions and other factors to determine what led to the collision.
